Started adding a few people… will keep adding a few at a time. I was thinking about it as I added new people to follow — it seems very arbitrary to just be adding people, willy nilly, just because they happen to be the people that Scoble is following. I considered for a minute, and here’s a few couple random thoughts on the subject:
- There are definitely folks who are “connectors”. Malcolm Gladwell talks about these people in a chapter of The Tipping Point, but the long and the short of it is, these people seem to know everybody. Scoble is definitely one of these people.
- I’m not adding people just to have a larger list; I’m genuinely interested in what this conversation looks like. I fully expect to learn some interesting things.
Another note: while going through this process, I naturally noted that there are a lot of folks whose updates are protected… ie, not public; they need to approve you to follow them. What to do with these? At first I was just adding everyone, but then I decided to stop adding those with protected updates. They have chosen to keep them private for a reason, and probably they only want to add people who they actually know.
So… if you’re here because you got a request from me to follow your updates and you’re wondering who the heck I am, that’s why. Sorry for bothering you!
