So, What Do You Think?

Whoever “you” are. ;-)

“You” would be the small group of people who keeps coming back and reading this… Despite the fact that this weblog has not been updating regularly and has not had any consistent theme for a long time, a few people evidently keep reading it.

Most people seem to get here via a particular search. My little post on David and Dale Garrett’s “Scripture in Song”, for example, has received more comments than anything else I’ve ever posted about. On the other hand, the few useful Linux HOWTOs that I’ve posted have received more visits than almost anything else I’ve posted.

So, what do you think? What do you like about the content here? What do you hate?

Do you skip the articles about Linux, or do you tend to skip the articles about Christianity? (Not that there have been too many of the latter… which, maybe I should change…)

If you are a regular or semi-regular visitor, please take a moment and leave a comment, even if it’s just “I don’t care” or “Don’t change anything”… I’m interested.

Personally, I read all of your content, and enjoy it all. But then - I suspect we have roughly similar interests - I can’t really say that the ‘Moose has content that varies much from here.

So - for me, don’t change a thing.

I also read all of the articles - I like the variety of your subjects/topics - My conjecture would hold that this description could be either of us: “a Christian in the technical world, with intrests in varied and eclectic styles of music, comedy and sci-fi” No one fits into one box, but that would capture a large portion of the both of us. That being said, I enjoy what you post, and wouldn’t really change anything…

We have a lot in common - Christianity, Linux, web development, programming, scifi/fantasy, and politics. I wish you lived in my area. I would love to have you be part of my volunteer team at my church.

The only time I tend to tune out is when you talk about tech support. In reality I should focus in on that more since that is an area I need to improve, but it’s an area I’m not particularly fond of. ;)

I would say don’t change a thing. You have a pretty narrow niche, but I like it since it fits me nearly perfectly.

It really depends on what you define as “success.” If you’re trying to build a network of fellow bloggers and contacts you are doing it the right way. If you want to create vast amounts of traffic then you’ll need to change your ways. Personally, I don’t read very many high traffic blogs. I seek out more personal blogs like yours.

Thanks for taking the time to comment, all (if you read but haven’t commented read, please feel free to add something…). Thanks also for the support.

@Brian… yeah, it is pretty easy to get side-tracked with the idea of becoming a “successful” blog (whatever that means… lots of traffic and AdSense revenue, I suppose; not that there’s anything wrong with that!).

Well, that’s 3 votes for “Don’t change.” Suits me, since I suppose I’ve been just writing whatever seems natural anyways.

    Thanks again for reading… :D
