Edgy Issues

Well, true to form, if you can have an issue with Ubuntu, I’ll have it.

Upon upgrading to Ubuntu 6.10 and rebooting… no more X-server.

It’s similar to issues I’ve seen before — it looks like a problem with the nvidia module not being found. I had no time to look further into it, but I’m imagining that it won’t be too hard to fix; probably a conflict between a newer kernel and whatever version of nvidia drivers I’ve installed. :(

What Not To Do in Tech Support

This post’s title could lead to a long, insightful article about things we do which are counter-productive to our role as support techs.

Instead, it will be a link to an SNL sketch on YouTube; actually, if we can just not do any of the things in this video, we can go a long ways toward being a good support engineer.

The Yet Smaller Shuffle

Apple is making the shuffle even smaller.

The Django Book

The Django Book looks promising. A free version of a forthcoming Django book — at the moment not too much is online, but more appears imminent.

I’ve heard mrBen say kind things about Django; my server does have Python available(even if I’ve been always using PHP based apps on it), so maybe I’ll see if I can get it running here, just for fun.
