I saw this link on del.icio.us, and thought hey — that’s interesting. It’s a grab bag of some of the most famous photos of all time — which is pretty much the same thing as saying, the most famous photos of the 20th century (more or less).
Looking over the page, I was interested to see that the Abbey Road album cover had made it on there. Except… it looked a little odd.
In case they realize the error and replace it, this is the version which appeared on the “famous photos” page:
This is the original version of the photo:
You’ll notice that the original has a normally painted crosswalk — the doctored version, which inexplicably made it into the “famous photos” list, looks more like a UPC symbol. What it actually is is the top part of the Art. Lebedev logo, and I would therefore assume it’s a promo piece for Art. Lebedev Studio, a Russian design studio best known among US geeks for the Optimus keyboard.
So, congratulations to the Art. Lebedev folks for creating a doctored version of a photo so good it was actually mistaken for the real thing.
EDIT: I do realize that this is just an individual’s personal page of “most famous” photos, and I’m not trying to poke fun for his having inadvertently displayed a doctored photo instead of the original… I just thought it was interesting.
